Giving Back

Giving of Yourself                               Giving of Your Treasures

Giving is often viewed in relationship to needs: the needs of the church to operate financially, the needs of the whole Church and the needs of the poor.  However, the fundamental issue is the need of donors to live out the Lordship of Jesus Christ in their lives.  Generosity with our money, time and talent gets to the heart of our values.  Jesus cut to the chase when he said: "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Tithing

God considers tithing so important that he gave us this challenge: "Bring the full tithes [10%] into the storehouse … and thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down or you an overflowing blessing" (Mal 3:10).

Time

One measure of authentic love is discovered in it’s spelling: t-i-m-e.  We give time to the things we love the most. First Presbyterian Church of Grimes has numerous ministries that await your involvement.  Donating time to Christ in Church activity is a measure of our love for Christ.

Talent

Everyone has unique gifts because every person is unrepeatable.  God doesn’t duplicate anyone.  The key to a dynamic Church is the collective involvement of the members who make up the body of Christ.  What we contribute as individuals is important because it is part of the whole team and reflects Christ, our head, operating in and through us.  Get involved.  All the rest of us need your gifts.
