Meet Our Staff

Pastor Jessica Wietzke

Jessica was born and raised on the family farm southeast of Greenfield, Iowa. She grew up in the Presbyterian Church where her parents served as elders and teachers. She studied English, Communication, and Spanish at Central College in Pella, Iowa. She studied abroad in Merida, Mexico and London, England, where she learned an appreciation for the diversity of God's creation and church. Jessica’s religion professor at Central recommended Princeton Theological Seminary her senior year, but she hadn't thought of a call to ministry or seminary. She moved to Omaha, Nebraska, with college friends and worked for an insurance company. She became a member of Dundee Presbyterian Church near her apartment and was very active there. The pastors went to Princeton Seminary and recommended it to her, so she thought maybe she should listen to what God seemed to be saying through others. She became an ESL teacher's assistant and began to discern God's call to ministry through fasting, prayer, scripture, and applications to seminary and YWAM's Discipleship Training Program. She spent months doing hurricane relief work on a Polynesian Island and worked with the Presbyterian Church in New Zealand. As part of her seminary training, she spent a year in Scotland. Jessica values learning, spiritual formation, and creativity. She enjoys hiking, swimming, reading, and cups of tea with good conversation. She has worked with churches in southwest Iowa, Missouri, and Indiana. She is grateful to be near her parents, who still live on the farm and are in their mid-seventies. Romans 12:1 is a passage from the Bible that bears special significance for her life; the Message translation of this verse states the following:

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life – your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life – and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him …
